Richard Nixon used this phone to call the Apollo 11 astronauts on the moon in 1969.

Can it REALLY be 51 years ago?

That's a cool document although the signatures looks autosigned.

I have a large framed photo of Buzz Aldren on the moon standing beside the luner lander, Eagle.  Signed by Buzz Aldren and Neil Armstrong.  Authenicated signatures by James Spence Authentications.

Today’s full moon is called the Balarām full moon in India because it is the birthday of Balarām, Kṛṣṇa’s elder brother. They grew up in the rural village of Vṛndāvan in a family of cowherds whose wealth was land and cows. The village produced abundant milk products like yoghurt, butter, cream, ghee (clarified butter), panir, etc. Bulls tilled the fields to produce sugarcane, grains, fruits and vegetables. This picture shows Kṛṣṇa squirting milk at Balarām.

The villagers used surplus production for barter trade and taxes in nearby Mathura, the capitol of the kingdom. Vṛndāvan was about 60 miles south of Hastinapur (modern New Delhi). Hastinapur was named for its abundance of elephants (hasti in Sanskrit) and was the capitol of the Vedic empire. It was not by chance that Kṛṣṇa and Balarām grew up in the vicinity of those two centers of political and military power….

Tim, I am sharing about the oldest human civilization for which we have solid historical records because I find their point of view entertaining and interesting. If you don't, you have a right to not read it and/or to express your reasons that this should not be shared. I would respectfully consider your serious concerns.

Over 5,000 years ago…

The world was overburdened by the unnecessary military forces of kings, who were actually demons posing as the royal order. The deity of the earth planet, Bhūmi (Gaia) in the form of a cow, went to Lord Brahmā to request relief. Brahmā was sorry to hear of the earth’s distress. Accompanied by the demigods and Bhūmi, he travelled to the planet where Lord Viṣṇu resides on an ocean of milk.

From the shore of the milk ocean, Brahmā prayed to Lord Viṣṇu, and explained the problem. Lord Viṣṇu replied to Brahmā that the Supreme Personality of Godhead would soon appear on earth. The demigods should also come to assist Him by taking birth in the Yadu dynasty, wherein Kṛṣṇa would personally appear as the son of Vasudeva….

Four-headed Brahmā relays Viṣṇu’s message to Bhumi and the demigods.

The world has definatley chnged

Glad none of this was around when we were teenages.  No drive in movies, no dances, no sports, no meeting at the hamberuger joints, no lots of things.

My mom probably wouldn't have let me out of the house.

The kids are really missing out on all of the fun things about being a teen.

Your post says it all

For me there were no dances, hamburger joints, or drive-ins; no nostalgia there. (I’m a social misfit.) My sports were track and cross-country and I still jog today. Time will soon end that. The virus has stopped my travel, more time for study. Change is constant. Use time wisely, it's running out….

A Traumatic Wedding Day

After their wedding Vasudeva and Devakī were going home in grand procession on a chariot driven by Devakī’s brother, Kaṁsa. When a girl marries, the custom is that her brother takes her and her new husband to their home.

As Kaṁsa drove the chariot, a celestial voice suddenly announced from the sky: “Kaṁsa, you fool! You don’t know that your sister’s eighth son will kill you!”

Hearing this prophecy, Kaṁsa, a demoniac king of the Bhoja dynasty, grabbed Devakī’s hair to kill her with his sword. Vasudeva, astonished at Kaṁsa’s behavior, quickly tried to pacify his shameless brother-in-law.

Vasudeva said, “My dear Kaṁsa, you are the most famous king and warrior of the Bhoja dynasty. How can you kill your own sister on her marriage day? Death is inevitable; we cannot avoid death. Why be afraid?”

Vasudeva tried to calm Kaṁsa with moral philosophy but Kaṁsa was not pacified. Finally Vasudeva said, “There is no danger from your sister. The danger is her son, who is yet unborn. You are safe now. If any sons are born, I will give them to you for necessary action.”

Knowing Vasudeva’s word of honor, Kaṁsa accepted his proposal and desisted from the heinous killing of his sister. Vasudeva praised Kaṁsa’s decision and thus returned home with his new wife to a suddenly precarious future.

The Eighth Pregnancy

It did not take Kamsa long to arrest and imprison Vasudeva and Devakī. In prison they gave birth to a male child year after year. Kaṁsa was most afraid of the eighth child, but he decided to kill all the babies, one by one, as they were born.

Kaṁsa imprisoned his own father, and forcibly occupied the kingdom of Vasudeva’s father, declaring himself king there. Allied with other demoniac kings, he consolidated the most powerful kingdom of his time.

In due course Lord Kṛṣṇa entered the mind of Vasudeva and was then transferred to the mind of Devakī, just as the rays of the setting sun are transferred to the rising full moon. The Lord appeared by his inconceivable potency, without the need of seminal injection.

Devakī thus began to glow with transcendental beauty. Kaṁsa, seeing her effulgence, understood that a special child was within her womb. He debated the pros and cons of killing her, but decided to wait for the inevitable future.

Many great sages, demigods, and their wives invisibly appeared in the jail of Kaṁsa. They praised the Lord for appearing on earth to fulfill His mission. They encouraged Devakī not to fear that Kaṁsa would kill this son. Rather, Kṛṣṇa would certainly protect her and Vasudeva.

Hi Marty, thanks for your feedback. I always remember you as a speedy half- and quarter-miler. You were a great inspiration.

This story is hard to relate to for those of us conditioned by modern times. It's hard to see any practical application or value in it. I also dismissed it for many decades. Gradually, after much travel and experience of other cultures, I've come to appreciate it.

Please tolerate it, ignore it if you must or, if you can, follow the story for the sake of a broader perspective. Thanks!

The CDC now says people should not wear a face mask with an exit valve because aerosols may leak out and put unprotected others at risk. This is crazy!

My 3M mask has a P100 rating which means it keeps at least 99.97% of all outside droplet and particulate matter from reaching my nose or mouth (it does have an exit valve). By comparison, cloth masks and blue surgical masks have ZERO established protective value for the wearer; they do offer protection for others around you. No one should have to give up an extremely high level of protection simply because of a valve.

For any of you who have a similar high-quality mask, put a “mask” over the outlet valve. Any small square of suitable material can be placed over the exit valve and held in place with a rubber band. It takes less than five minutes and it will allow you to continue having good protection and meet CDC guidelines
