Bob Boice (Highline 65) brought Monty Edwards down to Olympia. Haven't seen either of them for some time.

We took the boat out, went up to Boston Harbor Marina where we got some sandwiches, then headed north up the eastern side of Hartstene Island. We stopped at Jarrell's Cove State Park where we stretched our legs and walked the dog. Then on around the west side of Hartstene and back to Olympia.

Fun day on the water. Weather was perfect. Flat water. Great to see these two and spend the day with them. Monty was my best man many moons ago. Bob was my neighbor on Sylvester Road growing up.

Does a person good to visit with old friends....

A terrific post, Tim, and it's presactly what this forum is all about -- memories, old friendships, and camaraderie. As an Olympia boater, I heartily approve of the day's itinerary. You and Monty had the "Full Monty" of South Sound cruising. And I suspect that once the lines were tied, there may have been an adult beverage or two.

All American Three Course Meal. 52 cents! 1965. I remember those days. I recall buying two dollars worth of gas for my 53 Oldsmobile, my first car, 8 gallons. That would last me almost a week. Yeah, the ole' Yankee Dollar isn't worth very much these days.

The way the Fed is pouring money into US economy, hyper-inflation may make the dollar essentially worthless. A trillion here, a trillion there. Pretty soon you are talking some real money......

Between 1921 and 1923, the German Mark became essentially worthless. I have somewhere in my photo archives a pic of a million Mark postage stamp. The stories about wheelbarrows full of Marks for a loaf a bread are true.

The US came to the aid of Germany in 1922-23. Created a new German Mark backed by the US Dollar which was backed by gold.

Who or whom is going to bail us out? China? Saudi Arabia? Russia? Germany?
