Betty was one of my favorite classmates; she was always a joy to be around.  Funny, smart and kind - that was Betty.  She died of spinal cancer, but before she died, her mother had a few of us over to visit.  It was very sad that day to see Betty so ill.  But she was a real fighter through it all and never lost perspective of the most meaningful things in life (relationship with God, a wonderful family, and lots of caring friends).  I still miss Betty.

Betty and I both loved horses (she had one; I didn't) and she took me riding often. What a great friend and fun to be around. She also picked me up for school at Highline in a fairly new Chevrolet every day. she dated one of my best friends. I miss her and know I will see her again as we both put our trust in Jesus. Always quick with a humorous reply, yet helpful to all.  Betty had an infectuos laugh that I still remember today.

Betty was a wonderful friend and always a caring person. She died after a fairly long bout with cancer. Her parents had a lake property second home at Mason Lake, about a half mile north from my parent's lake cabin lot. She loved to water ski, host fun parties, and go boating in fast runabouts at "the lake". Betty was always there for you when you needed a special friend to listen to your ups and downs in matters of life and love. We all fondly called her "Aunt Nickie", and now after all these years I can't remember why she came about being called by that endearment nickname. She always saw the positive in situations, even in some of the most negative moments in life. What a special person. I believe she passed away some time in mid-1968 or early 1969. I remember visiting with the family at their house, east of HHS on 152nd not far from Des Moines Way, just a few days after she passed. It was more like a house-warming celebration than a memorial funeral reception -- they told me Betty wouldn't have it any other way. Really special people! Miss her...
