Tim Jones (Jones)

Can't remember how I met Herb, been a while. Also was acquainted with Herb's sister, Cyd.

Herb always struck me as a happy-go-lucky guy that didn't take anything too seriously. Always a smile and easy going attitude.

Herb was in the same Air Force Reserve unit I was in, the 941st. MAC, based in Tacoma at McChord Air Force Base.

I was in the aircraft engine shop and Herb was in the maintaince shop, in the same building. The section he was in maintained the equipment such as tractors, aircraft tugs, engine heaters, auxiliary power units used to suppply electrical power to the aircraft on the ground and lots of other equipment used to maintain our C-124 Globemasters.

I stopped by his shop one day and he was working on a Ford tractor. He had swapped the letters on the radiator shell to read "DORF"! I will always remembered that....

Sorry to hear of Herb's passing, especially in light of an accident involving (ironiocally) a tractor. Please add Herb to the "Served in the Military" section. As mentioned above, Herb was in the USAFR 941st MAC (Military Airlift Command).

RIP Herb

Tim Jones
