Linda Pompeo (Worden)

I am again saddened to hear of the passing of another classmate.

I did not realize that Leslie kept up with music after school until Ted posted the picture.  I am glad to know that she continued playing.

I was in one class with Leslie. She was always pleasant and willing to help anyone that might need it.

My sincere condolences to her family.  May you be blessed with lots of good memories.

Ted Comstock (Briggs-Comstock)

Leslie recorded a 45 single which got some airplay. She wrote it right after the ferry Cathlamet started running into piers due to computer failure. She took some words from a Seattle Times article poking fun at the incident and set it to music, with a song she wrote about the San Juan Co. sheriff's log on the other side. I got to play banjo on it, which was a lot of fun. It got a bit of airplay, notably on Dr Demento!
Sometime after that (I'm not sure of the date) she recorded a cassette album (remember cassettes?) of her own works. She used the name Leslie McKay (a familiy name) for her musical efforts.
About that time, she and I decided to form a folk-revival band, doing a lot of the "hits" from the early 60s (Kingston Trio, Peter, Paul and Mary, etc.). We added a mandolin player who she knew and called ourselves One More Thyme. We played a few gigs and had some fun but then it fell apart.
She was also a fine artist, specialising in watercolours in her later years.

Elsie Ehlers (Hulsizer)

Leslie and I sat next to each other for years starting in Lake Burien Grade School because seating arrangements were often alphabetical so Leslie Ehle always sat next to Elsie Ehlers.

The thing I remember most about Leslie is her smile and the fact that she always had something positive and cheerful to say. An dof course, her red hair.

The last time I saw Leslie must have been about 2005.  We were both working for Metro/King County in different departments but didn't know it.  I stepped into an elevator going down and there was Leslie. We hadnd't seen each other for about 20 years but both had instant recognition. In the few mintues while the elevator was going down, we exchanged histories. Although we promised each other we would look each other up, neither of us followed up and I moved out of that building shortly thereafter and never saw her again.
