I worked for Alan Green twice. 64 1/2 meant an early public sales release (before fall for an introductory year) of a new model that was meant for early release in the preceding sales year. The "1/2" cars were built in preproduction runs to test and validate/verify the factory tooling and assembly line build procedures/equipment. At least 50 cars were required to be produced of each new sport model for the model to be road raced in GT sports car competitions in North America and Europe. This is called "homologation". The new '64 Mustang was raced in many international road, rally, drag, and hill climb racing competitions. It was also a marketing ploy release to get a jump ahead of the other manufacturers' release of competitive models like the new Chevy Stingray Corvette and pending Camaro designs that were announced at annual car shows to be driven at Grand Touring race car events. I lived right next to Southgate Ford when the first 64 1/2 Mustangs covered by tarps arrived on transporter trucks. Does that help explain the 64 1/2 model designation? Homologated cars with low vehicle VIN's are very sought after by car collection buyers. We own a COPO (special order) 1969 Camaro HP350 SS coupe that was drag raced into the 1980's against Ford GT Mustangs. Ford Mustang 8-inch and 9-inch rear axels are very popular for use on old Chevy Cars that are set up for drag rcing because of their designed narrow width, parts strength, and ease of changing gear ratios or broken gears at the track. Interesting topic title lead-in to some very good observation points, Sterling. Let the [spititual] dead bury the dead. I think that is a paraphrased quote from Jesus... The reason I don't post a comment about every death is that out of 565 people I did not personally know or socialize with more than 100 of them while attending HHS. Many folks that i hung out with during high school were older than me or attended other high schools in the Highline School District.

I tried to serve my local community on a regional/county Health and Human Services Council, but Washington State has closed mental health services down. Democrats have provided homeless people (some who are preditors in their own drug dependent community shelters) with Constitutional lawyers from out of state that defend irresponsibile and public safety risk members from being prosecuted for their crimes against the general public. The homeless create areas of crime and unsanitary conditions (human defication, used needles, excessive trash, etc.) The contracted, psychologist "grifters" that control the homeless population services take over the local government councils to insure their state-funded grants, based on headcount of patients and not results, are protected. Judges do not inforce laws or public health codes and our police are forced to catch and release offenders without support from the commnity. The public safety issues are frustrating because we have stopped the enforcement of public Codes( laws that keep society safe and clean.) Ecology rules do not apply to the homeless and their preditors that follow them from city to city or from county to county. Yes, the general public has their head in the sand about this issue (or somewhere else) and does not want to know how to solve the issue. Other countries have decided to not encourage or enable the rich/poor social divide and enforce local codes that keep society under law and order. They also support core family health and respect through law and order, not chaos and war, thus they have a lower divorce rate through reduced social lawfare. i was an officer ar oakland army terminal in late 1967 was a general by proxy to overseel some 35000 men a month going over then ted bell came through even some from grade school. sorry about the damper on the our school dialogue. however i,writing a book about the 196os so the whole book is controversial . so what can i talk about wthout beiong trite an superfical.. or is it oaky for our generation be seen by our kid grandkids as apathic and smug. look i,v read this website some 50ten years now is seem only 10% our our oriiginal 565 students ever seem to read our website let alone write in. sad that many death notices get zero responses. so sad because out classes( 1962- 1967 and those years were so critical in forming what america is today. BOth to our own praise but to our own fault. what was that phrase, the afflunt, efflent out kid,our grandkids among the homeless. i,ve visited at least 10 other school websites across the country phoenix, selma new york, atanta. st louis. lets not pass he buck this is largely what superfical values, have let us to. where 3 divorces is normal where down town seattle look like more and for like india. and india isbegining to look like america..all ccountry go through cycles from youth to mid age to old age but not this soon. i visited vet nam recently and its embarrasing how well is doing now liile crime homeless. a succesfull capitalistic country. on the list of happy countys we are below india. sad we have so much potiental synergy but i guess will just vegetate away and pass our weakness on the next generation.

I thought this recent article was an interesting read about Ukraine's past, from a Russian historian's point of view.

I worked with both Russian and Ukrainian space program personnel on the International Sea Launch Program while I was employed at Boeing's Commercial Space Company Subsidiary in the late 1990's. the Ukrainian representatives were very hard to deal with during the program and one of our interpreters belonged to the Khazarian Mafia; Boeing paid a very heavy fine (M$) to the US State Department for hiring him without a thorough background check of his past, but they still issued him a Green Card.

Yes it was a 1964 Mustang. At the time my dad was selling Fords for Southgate Ford. He called it a 64 1/2 Mustang. Never understood the 1/2 part, but I believed him. It was early into 1965 when I bought one of the 64 1/2 Ford Mustangs. I also was working my first job and was making a whooping 350.00 a month. The Mustang was baby blue with white appolstery, and I coughed up enough money for rims and baby moons for it. I LOVED that car. My dad felt it such a classy car that he thought a miniature poodle would look nice in it, so he bought me one. Eventually my Mom kept the dog, and I kept the car. Still the 1/2 part is a mystery. If we can get Bruce Minella on here he could probably straighten it out. His dad owned Southgate at the time, when my dad worked there.

While these things didn't all happen in '64, but we did... kind'a, sort'a.

We burst out on the world, looked around and started making some changes. I can see a couple of things in that banner that we might have influenced.

And hey, Baby Boomers are still a powerful force for change.

Oh, the Ford Mustang... think the first one was in '64 or was it '65. Well, someone planned it in '64... LOL. The 1966 Mustang was my first brand new car. I was living on poor, and I mean poor, wages working for the government in DC. Drove that little car for about 12 years, how I loved it.

Interesting point. Sound of Silence from 1965. Man on the moon 1969, Woodstock 1969, Looks to be a late sixties Mustang. May or may not be able to change the icons,as it is probably a canned program.

The Forum isn't getting much play, but I'll chime in and agree with Tom. A very nice evening and another thanks to all the hard work by the organizers.

Early on I was a little disappointed that there wasn't music to dance to, even though the dance floor was small. I even wore my dancing shoes! But great conversations were taking place everywhere you turned and I quickly forgot all about the lack of music. As Dorothea pointed out on the way home. the absence of music made the conversations easier, and the background hum of voices was music of a wonderful kind.

Maybe there is continuity on some matters about Highline. The current principal is a Mr. Fosberg, who is the son of Dr. Ted Fosberg, a Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering. I worked for and with Ted for fifteen years. The president of our engineering company, Russ Vandenberg, is a Highline graduate from 1949. He distinctly remembers Earl Trowbridge as being THE MATH TEACHER during the 1940's. So they can do to the building what they want. There is continuity among a large range of graduates over the years.
